As per Government instruction, Red Hill CE Primary School is closed. We will provide relevant updates as required on our "tickertape" below, Latest News section, the weekly newsletter and via text messages. For those parents and carers using our emergency provision, please consider this as an option of last resort; if you have other safe options for your child, then please use them.
17th March 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
Following yesterday’s announcement by the government, there have been further changes to guidance.
Please do not send your child to school if they, OR SOMEONE LIVING IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD, have a temperature of 37.8°C or higher, or a NEW continuous cough. Please keep them home for 14 days. Please do not mask your child’s temperature by administering medicine such as Calpol/Nurofen etc prior to the start of the day. If a child is sent home, they will not be able to return for 14 days. We will be strict with our staff too in order to protect you and your children. This also protects the vulnerable members of our school community.
If you have any concerns for your child, or the health of other vulnerable members in your household, we fully understand a parent wanting to keep their child / children off school. In these circumstances, the absence will be authorised as code y – “Unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances.” This includes those with a weakened immune system, asthma, or other respiratory diseases. Information can be found at
We are keen for the school day to continue with as little disruption as possible. However, we are taking sensible precautions; these include suspending whole school assemblies, our Year 4 Easter Service at St Martin’s next Tuesday and Year 3 & 4 swimming has been cancelled this Friday. This is in line with other local schools. All planned sporting events, such as the Year 5&6 swimming gala, have been postponed by the cluster of schools. We will continue to review our daily activities until the end of the spring term and will update you as soon as possible.
Even though we continue to follow government advice regarding school closure, I also have to be mindful of the pupil to adult ratio if staff absences increase, to ensure the safe operation of the school. If there are any full or partial school closures, we will alert you via text message.
As always, the safety and care of the children and staff at Red Hill is of paramount importance. These are challenging and uncertain times, and we will continue to support the school community as best as possible during this period of uncertainty.
