Art & DT

Art - Intent

At Red Hill, the creative subject of art and design aims to engage, inspire and challenge all pupils from reception to year 6. It gives opportunities for all pupils to express themselves, experiment with techniques and media and enjoy creating their own masterpieces whilst developing curiosity. Our art and design curriculum is designed to:

  • Be accessible for all pupils and allow all learners to achieve.
  • Give a purpose to our artwork, making it relevant and fun for the children as well as supporting learning across the curriculum.
  • Allow children to develop their understanding oh how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture of their world.
  • Engage learners in a variety of different aspects of art and explore their creative side.

D&T - Intent

At Red Hill, design and technology aims to be an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Our design and technology curriculum is intended to:

  • Give pupils the opportunity to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts in their world.
  • Encourage the use of creativity and imagination throughout the design and technology processes.
  • Enable children to acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art.
  • Equip children with the relevant, every day life skills that they will need by the end of year 6, e.g the principles of nutrition.

If you would like any further information about our art and D&T curriculum at Red Hill, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Red Hill Arts Festival 2022 Highlights

One of our favourite weeks of the year, Arts Week has once been a huge success. It has been wonderful to walk around the classrooms, seeing the children enjoy themselves so much, from painting to drama, tie-dying to collage making. There have been so many outstanding pieces of work created; some are included in today's newsletter, but please take time to watch our Arts Week '22 highlights film below! The school has been awash with sport, colour, music, drama and singing. Thanks too, to all of the staff and visitors for putting on such great activities. Particular thanks go to out workshop facilitators from the STAR project for our musical theatre activities and to the community team at Worcester Warriors who have been teaching our children a variety of rugby skills.

Excellence Enjoyment, Everyone Everything. At Red Hill C of E Primary School, we look to Jesus as our example in our aspirations for Excellence and Enjoyment in all that we do. We believe that Everyone is unique and Everything is celebrated. "God created you to be amazing" (Ephesians 2:10)
